This report details the lived experience of BAME professionals working in the PR industry but has lessons and calls for action that apply to every industry, organisation and individual across the UK and beyond.
A sincere thank you from Abby, Julie and I to all those who shared their stories with us in this project. We feel extremely grateful to have conducted this CIPR Race in the PR Workplace research project. During our 30 years of conducting research, there have been only a few projects that have had the enduring impact upon us that this one has had. Participants spoke to us candidly and generously about how it feels to be a BAME PR professional. For many their experiences had been far from positive, but they all remained committed to a career in PR. We hope their accounts encourage real listening, proper engagement and most importantly, action.
